Very pleasant place to stay for our quick stopover. Breakfast very good and happily served at the early hour we requested.

The location of the hotel was ideal and the views of the countryside was amazing.

    Exceptional

The loation of the hotel, the friendly approach of the staff and the helpfulness from the kitchen with picnic lunch.

    Exceptional

The room we were given was excellent. Dinner would be finished at 21.00 before we arrived and we rang ahead to say we would be late, we were told any time up to 22.00 would be fine. The food was basic but excellent, carvery and other dishes. Merthyr is not the most attractive town in Wales but you are close to the Brecon Beacons which are lovely. Very friendly helpful staff. We were so impressed we stayed an extra day.

    Superb

The room was very comfortable and the staff were friendly and helpful.

Was disturbed during the night by a guest in the next room talking till the early hours. Sounded American/Canadian and was confirmed by the staff to be occupant of adjoining room. Floor creaked too much when walking around room.

    Fabulous

The hotel was fairly basic, but clean and comfortable. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The evening Carvery was amazing, 3 meats giant yorkshire pudding plus lots of veg and potatoes, a real mountain of food for £9.95, what a bargain.

The staff and also the food was very enjoyable.

    Location area was rough

    Superb

Very comfortable, immaculately clean room with very modern bathroom. A full and well prepared cooked breakfast was also served. The staff were v. friendly and helpful. The hotel is on quite a steep hill and not adjacent to the town centre. Any walk into the town would then need to be followed by a steep walk back up the hill. That is perhaps one thing that needs to be born in mind. I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel.

Be aware of location as mentioned above!

    Good

Friendly staff, clean and comfortable room

Rooms not well sound-proofed and very creaky floorboards, which could be heard from adjoining rooms. Food, whilst freshly prepared and plentiful, could at best be described as "basic and wholesome", but very unimaginative. Very much "meat and two veg", fairly typical of eating out in Welsh pubs ! Would not have dined in the hotel for more than 2 nights - dining area had the feel of a "posh" works canteen, formica- topped tables etc. Mainly seemed to be used by locals coming in for a large evening carvery meal, some accompanied by noisy kids. Not much finesse about it, and definitely not the place for an intimate or romantic meal.
